The Outcast is a retelling of sorts for The Scarlet Letter. While I've never read that book, I am familiar with the general plot. I found this story to be completely predictable in many areas, though not so much in others. The Outcast also said to be a modern retelling of The Scarlet Letter features Racheal and Leah Stoltzfus. Rachel came to help her twin sister Leah and her husband after the birth of their baby. Leah is on bedrest, and Rachel makes sure that both baby and mum are well taken care of, and her sister is able to recover fully after birth. The Outcast By Jolina Petersheim is suppose to be a modern retelling of the Scarlet Letter and I believe it is just that. The story is wrote from Rachel’s perspective as well as a recently deceased bishop, Amos. Although it might be a bit confusing, I feel as if it fit the story very well coming from two different perspectives.
